Totorakin leads the rescued crew back to the wreck of the Rebecca. What was once a 25-man crew is now reduced to nine: Captain Jonas Abraham, Miguel Figuroa, John Smith, Cais Cath, Caras Cath, Blarg-Honk, Vincent Vegas, Totorakin and Luna. After resting at the wreck for a short time, Luna glides high to get a quick view of the area. Spying a river to the West, they decide to make camp and send a scouting party to the river in the morning.
The stranded souls are awakened to the angry cries of a flock of birds. Totorakin quickly recognizes them – Razor wings! These deadly seagull-like birds are infamous for their razor-sharp beaks and wings, and are known to rip unsuspecting crews to shreds.
The flock floods over the captain and Cais, while Blarg-Honk flails his battle-ball into the mass of birds. Totorakin blasts them with fire, and the crew swings wildly with the swords. A few of them panick, curling on the ground in an attempt to escape the razorwings, but after a few moments, the flock is reduced to a scattering few. Luna – who was sleeping perched in a nearby tree – swoops down on one as the flock dissipates.
Totorakin sustained a few minor cuts during the fray. None were serious, but as Blarg-Honk saw his friend bleeding, he picked him up and rushed him to the water (now that is known that Totorakin can heal with his water magic), crying “Toto hurt! Toto need water!” Despite his objections, Totorakin cannot stop the brute from carrying him into the sea.
Captain Abraham assigns Totorakin, Blarg-Honk and Luna with the task of scouting toward the river while the rest of them organize and guard the salvage from the Rebecca. The tree travel down the beach for roughly two hours, and quickly spy more wreckage a short distance up the river. Upon further inspection, they find that it is an old skiff – a salvageable skiff!
Seeing that the ship has no mast, Blarg-Honk steps into the foliage and uproots a small tree, but losing his balance as he tries to carry it to the wreck. Totorakin explains that they should be able to use what was salvaged from the Rebecca, and thanks Blarg-Honk for his help. Luna takes a quick look inside the wreckage, finding nothing; then offers to head back to their camp to lead the others here to repair the skiff.
Luna glides quickly back to the camp, and begins to lead the others (along with some of the salvage) to the river. As they hike up the beach, the air around Torath-Ka rises roughly twenty degrees in temperature. Thankfully, the skiff can be repaired in the shade near fresh water.
Cais Cath, the ship’s carpenter, quickly patches the hull of the skiff with little help from the others. They tie lines to it, guiding it down the river and along the beach to the rest of their salvage. Totorakin helps shove off with his water magic.
With the skiff moored at the beach, Cais and Blarg-Honk repair the mast and sails while the skiff is loaded. Night is nearing, so they decide to rest on the ship for the night and shove off in the morning.
As dawn nears, Luna spies some movement in the trees. She glides toward the campfire to get a closer look, and is met with spears hurling toward her! She cries, awaking the crew, and prepares for a fight. She sees a dozen Ugaks – two riding yellowbacks – emerge from the trees. She fights three of them off while Totorakin provides covering fire. Blarg-Honk cuts the mooring line and yells for Luna to return.
As the ship begins to drift, Luna runs and barely catches the side before the Ugaks close in. They dodge a few more spears, but are safe… for now.
The new skiff is dubbed The Shady Lady, and the crew sails off into the blue.
